ArcServe 2000 is forgetting stuff... how to fix?

My ArcServe system (Dell PV130 and PV136 on a 4-cpu system, windows 2000, ARC is patched to SP3) is selectively forgetting stuff.

I have it running with the builtin ArcServe database.

The problem is, on a Restore by Tree view, some directories are not shown. However, if I search for files I know exist in the 'missing' directory, THEN it will show me the missing directories.

I suspect this is a database problem.

I have tried dbcheck, however, I've yet to be able to run it successfully.

Anyone has any ideas on how to rectify this?

Will I have to strip Arc out of the server, and re-install using SQL?

I really do NOT feel confident betting my paycheck on this software.

HI,

Before you try reinstalling the software, just intiliaize the database...
You can do this from the ARcserve server admin, database tab, opne Operation menu and select initialize.
On the initialize windows select "all databases" and run it.

Ensure that the Arcserve manager is closed when you do this.

Thanx
