Arcserve 2000/Exchange Brick Level Backup

I have an Arcserve 2000 (sp2) running on Windows 2000 (sp1) environment. Any time I try to backup Exchange 5.5 Brick level, it fails.

The Exchange 5.5 server is also running "Norton Antivirus for Microsoft Exchange". When I stop this Antivirus service, the backup works fine. So it seems comfirmed that every time I need to take Exchange brick level backup, I have to stop the Norton Antivirus. This is not desirable as we do not want to stop the antivirus service.

Has anyone faced this problem. It would be great if someone could tell me how to take Exchange Brick level Backup without stopping "NAV for Microsoft Exchange".

The patch that I loaded for my problem was specific to Exchange 2000 so I dont know if it would help your problem or not.

I applied the patch L085115.exe as per arcserve's support instructions, but it still did not work.

I fixed this problem. I switched the mode for "Norton Antivirus for Microsoft Exchange" from VAPI to MAPI.
