I am running Arcserve 2000 Enterprise edition on a W2K server. I have several remote clients that run Win NT or Win 2000 that have the Arcserve 6.5 client installed. I can backup with no problem but when I want to try to restore files to a client machine, I go to do a restore by session, I can not see any of my shared directories on the client. Typically we have a data folder and an application folder. These folders contain all of the network shares. I am not able to see either of the folders nor the shares underneath. CA is saying the 6.5 client and AS2000 are not compatible. They say I need to load the Arcserve 2000 client on all my client systems. Any truth or any workarounds? Thanks!

It's a toughie. I know of some people who swear by the 6.5 client agent, but then it begs the question of whether or not they have attempted a restore from it *grin*.

I would keep it consistent across the board with AS 2000, even consistent service pack levels.

As for the data on your tape, try a merge, then try a restore by session. If it still doesn't work you can do a restore by backup media and use a filter to include the file or directory you want. this should capture what your looking for unless the data written to the tape is beyond corruption.
