Hi

I have tried a full backup of a server running AS2k, SQL agent, BAOF agent and DR option. The backup completes with no errors. When I create boot disks, it creates the DR disk, modifies the NT boot disk but when tryimng to create the machine specific disk, I get a "Failed to write to the disk" error and the disk does not create. Any ideas on a workaround or a fix to what may be causing this would be appreciated.

System is WinNT 4 Server SP6a.

You must backup through the agent using Computer Name Resolution only.

As it happens, we found the problem. Although the floppies were brand new out of the box, we still had to format them first.

Use Format /u to format the floppy..

in the advice to set backup with computername resolution, how do I backup up systems in another domain. we have a dmz and we do not want internal systems to see computername outside of that domain. This would be a breech in security to allow this type of configuration to exist.

In a DMZ you need to open certain ports on the FireWall,
and both the domains should be in a trust .

ARcserve uses ports 41523\41524 for the Discovery service.
POrt 6050 for the NT agent.

cheers
