Camco is attempting to install Arcserve 2000 Dbagent for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 SP4.

Arcserve 2000 - Version 7.0 installed & functioning correctly. - No service packs are installed for Arcserve 2000

Error reeived during install:
"Authentication Failure: Fail to Create Profile --- Check the [c:\ExchVerify.log ] for detail and make sure the User Mailbox Name or Alias is correct and Unique."

Mailbox Name: Dbagent1
Service: Exservice
PW: ______________
Domain: GECAMCCAMCO

Have you followed the document to the letter on installing the exchange agent? and have you initialised the mailbox you have created?

guru

Yes, documentation followed as per manual -

Initialzed mailbox - by sending a test email to this box

Setup an outlook client on the exchange server pointing to this mailbox.

Selected rights from the NT Domain: as described below has been completd.

Log into the domain and open User Manager for Domains. Choose User and then Select Domain. For the Domain, enter the machine name. (If the machine is a Domain Controller you will receive the message "Machine name is a member of domain DomainName. Focus will be set to domain DomainName." Select OK and continue). Choose Policies from the Menu bar. Choose User Rights, and place a check in the Show Advanced Rights check box. Choose Act as Part of the Operating System from the drop down list. Add the Service Account if it does not appear (if the account is not listed ensure that the 'List Name From' drop down list shows the Domain name listed, not the Machine name).

This STEP (BELOW) in regards to advanced rights on the local macine has NOT been completed. Is this step essential !!!(as we have a problem signing onto this server locally)

Repeat with the advanced rights of Log on as a Service and Log on Locally.

Hmmmmm, sounds very thorough, what happens when you configure the exchange agent? Can you configure it properly? Or does it deny you configuration? (when you install the agent there is a group in the program menu)

Also, have you made sure this user is a domain admin for that particular domain and also that domain admin is the PRIMARY group?

If all this is correct, I may suggest using this nt user as the arcserve system account as well and when selecting the backup job ensure the correct nomenclature is used when justifying its security. (domain\username)

Hope this helps,

guru
