I am having a problem. I am running arcserve 2000 on a windows NT network. In arcserve's activity logs it shows that there are a couple of critical databases that are not being backed up because there is a sharing violation. I know that the database isn't being used. When I try to manually copy the database, it works with no problem even though the database is shared. I thought arcserve could back files that where shared regardless?

Check out Service Pack 1 for ArcServe 2k. It might address this issue. [sig][/sig]

what database is it, there might be a database backup agent for it.....also CA have something called the backup agent for open files. [sig][/sig]

After discussing this with a colleague and having a similar prblm on cisco routers running nw4.11/nt network having lagging backup time on the usual 6 hour backup, got this solution. He was able to set the upgrade low thread priority on the server to "on" and change nic from automatic to 100 and at the same time changing the switch to ONLY USE 100 on the port the server was using. This last part was the key in getting the backup to run. The draw back is high utilization on the server. Our problem is due to a complaining scsi. Hope this helps.
