I discoverd that ArcServe 2000 cannot backup Windows 2000 System Folder at my servers:

- All dlls can't be backup
- When I copy those files to temp folder, they can be backup

My server come with:
- Windows 2000 server with SP2 + all security patches
- Arcserve 2000 workgroup with SP4 and misc patches + DR and Open files agents

I've use both administrator as well as created ArcServe backup account with following right, but still don't work:
- Rights: Administrators; Backup Operator; Users
- Policy: Logon locally; Logon as a services; Act as part of OS

Could any expert help me or give me some hints?
Thanks a lot

HI,

Please mention the error codes you get in the arcserve log.

When you say DLLs , does is give you an open file error?

Cheers
Speshalyst So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

This is assuming that you are not receiving errors.

Note that if backing up through My computer or through a client agent, and windows protected files will only be backed up through the systyem state. For example, if you created a backup of boot.ini through "my computer" you will get a successful backup with 0 files backed up. Windows 2000 has introduced these protected files and they are only backed up through System State.

If it is a remote machine being backed up through a client agent, the same holds true. If it is a remote machine backed up through the network icon, a drive is mapped and the files are attempted to be backed up.

What you need to do is verify if the dll's that are being missed are considered to be WPF (or WFP, I forget) files.

have you tried going through the client agents and doing it that way?
