ARCserve 2000 - Automatic drive assignment failed. Handler not ready

I have just attempted to exchange a QualStar TLS for our current Sidewinder Tape drive. We are running ARCserve 2000 V7.0 (Build 1018)on a Compac Proliant 6000 running NT 4.0. We removed the old TLS Application and installed the current Tape Library Option and installed the Standard setup. In Device Config we chose the Tape and Optical Library option and followed the assign, procedure, in step 2 of 3 we selected the Bar Code option, in step 3 of 3 we took the default. The TLS atarted moving the shuttle around the TLS but about one minute in we get the error notice that the handler is not ready and the process stops. Can you please help with this?
