I have a problem with the combination archserv2000, exchange2000 and norton2000.
Whenever the job comes to the part of reading the exchange-db, it usually displays a couple of "Application run out of memory" (the affected mailboxes can vary from tyime to time) and then does nothing for a couple of hours, before it all of a suddon tries to start a new job, asking for a new tape.
However; if I disable the autoprotect in Norton, the job works just fine.
I´m not a guru on any of these programs, so I was wondering if there are any settings or something that I´ve gotten wrong.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

set the antivirus to automode-mapi services only..
thanks Happiness is a daily decision

I have run SP4 dated 6/28 and I still have these errors with the mailboxs running out of memory. As above mentioned from the previous message, the affected mailboxes can vary from time to time and sometimes I get 1 mail box sometimes I get 4 or 5 mailboxes out of memory. I'm not sure what is going on. But SP4 didnt seem to fix this. Any other suggestions?

I may look like a complete ignorant to you now chkplsfromindia, but exactly how do I do that?
Have gone through all options in Norton, but found nothing even resembling what you are describing here.

GaryRumson ruined my day by the way, installed the SP4 earlier today, and was really looking forward to coming to work tomorrow seing a perfectly run log.

I have seen so many people complaining about the same error. Surely this should be something Computer Associates should adress somewhat more seriously?

Oh, well, hasta mañana

Well sorry to ruin your day Ottm but sometimes I get a clean run of mailboxes (once or twice a month), but most of the time I get a mailbox out of memory. Maybe it is a combo of macafee and Arc server or something. I just look at it this way, In case I have to restore, hopefully I wont loose but a day or two worth of emails to a user. The only thing left to do on my exchange server is put SP3 but I'll wait on that.

Just set up a pre/post job to stop and start the norton services through the backup of the mailboxes. Also, after applying sp4 you may want to re-run and re-configure the exchange agent (also make sure the server has rebooted since the update service pack and that those sp levels are equivalent to both exchange agent and the ARCserve server.

Anyway, these are just some thoughts.
