Greetings,

I am running ArcServe 2000 on a Win2K Server. I have the Netware agent installed on a Netware 5 server. Is there a way to run an ncf before running the backup job? I would like to stop McAfee Netshield and Groupwise before running the backup job. Preferably using an NCF. I know there are options to execute commands at the ArcServe server but I believe these are Windows commands, or Windows scripts, not ncf's.

I have also noticed that if I attempt to backup the Netware server during normal business hours, it pretty much takes the network down. Nobody can get at their files etc (Im assuming it's because they are all locked).

Anybody have anything to offer regarding these issues?

Brian

Hello,

I dont know exactly, but there is a program called 'cron'.

I think you can use it to start and stop nlm's at a specified time...

create the ncf files and test them on the netware server. Then use the nwagent's pre and post commands and add a network share for the netware volume holding the ncf files [f:]. Then do something like this:

f:\myncffile.ncf or
netwareservername\sys:\myncffile.ncf

But is it going to execute the commands AT the NW server or will it try to run them locally?

Brian

the nwagent.nlm runs them, so the answer is at the server.
Hope this helps

There's a pre/post function for the agent and will run on the server the agent is installed on.

I also use a free little app for netware called StuffKey. You can find it on the Internet. Just do a search for it.
