I am attempting to Install the NT/2000 Agent (7/0/1017) on a Windows NT SP4 machine. When I select the standard setup of the agent from the Arcserve CD, the Agent Install program loads but just sits there with a hour glass, and no prompts. If I look in the task manager the application does not appear to be hung.

If I attempt to install it from a remote install, the status will stay on "Installation in Progress" forever.

Any ideas?

We used to have a problem with installing the client agents off the CD. It'd just crap out in the middle of the instal. We worked around it by copying the client agent install file(s) to the hard drive and running from there.

Tried that already. The install will not even load up to the point where it asks you for installation options.

Have you tried it from different media? Possibly the source is corrupt. Make sure any anti-virus software is disabled.

CA usually has a log file created during the process. I don't know where the agent is located, but others products have been located in %temp%.

Is the Computer Browser service running on the client agent machine ??

regards
