I am running a Win 2K Advanced Server with a tape backup and ArcServe 2000 Advanced. I am logging into the server using the Admin username and password and scheduling a job to run every night at midnight. There is a SQL database running that I kill with a batch file run before and after the backup. Problem is, I've not had one good backup since the system was installed. My activity log shows an error 3073 (EC=logon failure). I have made sure that the user name and password I am using is the admin user name and password for my server, and that happens to be the same for Arcserve. It looks simple...mouse driven GUI dialog boxes and I believe I have all the correct info entered. All this notwithstanding, I get the error noted above all the time.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Cliff

Reset the password for the ARCserve System Account found in the Server Admin.

Try to enter the username and password as such: Domain\username. This has helped me out.

still can't solve this problem
any other solution?

i am using a domain ARCserve System Account. The other servers have no problem except his.
any idea?

I use the SQL account of the server in the backup job rather than the Arcserve system account, and I don't kill the sql before the backup either.

I agree with Stat1c. I prefer to use a SQL account and I leave SQL running. If you have the SQL Agent, which I trust you do, then you should leave it running. When you setup your backup job, right click the database and input your SQL security info. Then try to expand it. If it can login, it will show you the database list.

Good luck!
