I've installed ArcServe 12.5 (build 5854) on a 2003 Server R2 SP2 64-bit server (workgroup, not domain). The server already had SQL server 2005 running on it, but we decided to keep the ArcServe db in SQL Server express rather than mixing it in with SQL Server.
The installation went fine and didn't say there were any problems, but ArcServe doesn't seem to be working very well. If I try to format or erase a tape, it says "Database operations fails". If I run a backup job, it just keeps requesting a tape even thought one is in the drive (and the drive has been added to the correct group)
I've checked online for updates, and there seems to be 2 patches available - but the CA website doesn't say what build those patches apply to or what build they will update to, so I don't know if they're relevant or not :-(
I'm half suspecting that it's using a SQL Server instance rather than a SQL Server express instance as I can't find anything about SQL Server Express in Add/Remove programs. But I don't know how to confirm either
Can anybody help at all ?
Thanks in advance
