Have a bit of a problem, I have a Windows 2003 Arcserve 11.5 SP4 server that was turned off because we went with another backup method that still has Exchange data that I need currently and whenever I try and do a document level restore I get the Arcserve error "No valid destination".

Because we no longer use Arcserve we no longer have maintenance with them.

During the time that the server has been offline we also moved to a clustered Exchange 2003 enviornment (was not clustered before) with brand new servers.

I could not find the Exchange agent CD for SP3 so I downloaded SP4 off of CA's website and installed the Exchange agent on the Exchange servers as well as upgraded Arcserve 11.5 SP3 to SP4.

The steps I take to restore are:
* Select source mailbox from Microsoft Exchange Server - Brick Level
* Under destination - Added new EVS to Windows Systems and set appropriate permissions for document level
* Navigated to a regular storage group where I set permissions up and a mailbox for restoring to
* Selected Start and set both username/password boxes

A few seconds after the job starts it finished with a failed with the "No Valid Destination" error.

One main thing I noticed is that on the source tab it says Brick level and on the destination tab it says document level. I am guessing this isn't a problem, but I don't know if something was changed in the patch that causes problems with previous restore tapes.

Thank you in advance,

Chris

run the Exchange agent configuration and enable the checkbox show bricks level icon
Then must successfully be able to run the Exchange agent brick level configuration tool.
Then when he restores he should set the destination to a mailbox EG: \\server\dbaexchg2\john_smith\inbox\restore
he should reenter the security and it should work.

Thanks for the Post, I forgot to mention that I did run the Backup Agent for Microsoft Exchange Configuration. I selected "configure a backup agent service account to use with brick level" and set the username and password (this is the account that I gave full exchange permissions to.

I am not aware of the Exchange agent brick level configuration tool unless you are referring to what I just mentioned.

Also, I am trying to restore to a mailbox I created for this restore purpose and I am select to restore to the inbox on this mailbox.

Actually, I just got the restore working. Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.

I guess it was a step I missed, in the CA Backup Agent Admin, under Options - Configuration I selected the show brick level (I am guessing this is exactly what you were referring to).

As soon as I did that I was able to start the restore.

Thank you very much!
