Arcservbe 6.6 Cannot read tape

I have a Novell 5.1 server running Arcserve 6.6. I am using a Compaq 40/80 External DLT. I have installed the device and installed all the Scsi Adapters etc... Novell picks up the Device Ok.

When I put a tape in (DLT4) Arcserve recognises that a tape is in there but keeps telling me it is unknown. I have tried loads of tapes some with data on, and others I have formatted, but I still cannot read the tapes, hence I cannot backup/restore anything.

Any ideas????

Are the tapes used before with another backup program. If so, which program ??
