Hi,
I have been asked a question. Buy the way we use groupwise 6.5.1 with formativ. The question is on archiving. With earler version you could append file to an existing archive. Now it wipes all old data that has been archive in the past, replacing it with the new list of files. How do I append files to an existing archive?

Any ideas would be appreciated. :)

If archiving a file or numerous files deletes any existing archived files then you have a problem. As long as there is enough disk space when you archive a file it will just add it to the current archive folder. The only time I know of that archived messages would be deleted is if you change the file location for the archiveing of messages under Tools/Options/Enviornment/File Location. And under this scenario the files would only be deleted after they were copied to the new file location. If preexisting archived messages are being deleted when a new archived message is being added you need to dig a little deeper. Has there been any system changes since this problem started occurring? Does this hapeen to all users, a few users? That is just a couple of questions I would have.

WOW!! a blast from the past. What is the current version of GW you are running on? It has been at least 6 yrs. since I have had any dealings with GW v4.x. But I don't remember c:\OFWIN40 as being the default <dir> for archiving, but like I said it has been a while. The only OFWIN40 <dir> I remember was under the Post Office <dir> on the Server. Anyway, have you tried changing the archive location to see if that changes anything? For example changing it to another location on your local drive (C:\GWARCH). Or to your home <dir> on the server if you have one, like F:\GWARCH. Also check to see if you have a <dir> under your root archive <dir> that is named "OFxxxARC. Where xxx is your FID. Sorry I can't be more specific.
