Archiving records created on a certain date

I have a table that will require all records created before a certain date to be archived.
I can create a procedure to do this, but before going ahead I am wondering if there is a system function in SQL Server to do this.
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
dont know of a function to do this - proc or DTS package needed I think.
