Hi there
I'm not good with project and am hoping there is an easy answer. I tried searching around but haven't found anything. What I want is to be able to hide all completed/historical tasks so the users only see what is still in the future (to lessen the clutter). I do, however, need to be able to reference them later so can't delete them. I also can't just use filters as the users are lazy and stupid (even more than me) and won't understand.
Is there an easy way of doing this?
Thanks
Alan

I'm afraid there is no method of removing tasks but not removing them. I'm struggling a bit that your users can use the Filter drop-down and select "Incomplete Tasks" and then press F3 to reset the filter to "All Tasks".

It really is the best method. Yes, I suppose you could cut and paste the tasks to a new project -- but what is going to happen when someone wants to see the entire plan again?

Thanks.
I also found it a bit strange that the users (of which some are project managers) don't know how to use a simple filter. And explaining to them seems to confuse them even more. I don't know how they even get dressed in the morning.
I might have to do the cut and paste bit. Thanks

It sounds like training for the PMs might be a good investment. Good luck.

This is where you explain this issue to your supervisor. He/She ought to be able to address this with your management.

Oh, if only.
I was brought in as part of a consulting team to bring this multi million pound project back on track (a ten year project that is 6 years in and already 4 years late). We have told them time and again of the problems we've identified but nothing gets done about it. Finally, there is a new programme manager that sees the light in what we are trying to do. But we have to start with baby steps. Just getting them to actually use a plan is the start :p

Systemic problems like this cannot be solved overnight.

You can only do, what is in your power and authority to do. Other than personal persuasion, you have to be able to let it go after you have done all that you can do.

Good luck!
