Hello everybody,
we use Oracle8.1.6 working in Archived Log mode and RMAN for backups.
Doing archived log backup, next message occurs:

RMAN-03013: command type: backup
RMAN-06089: archived log
/sgbd/oracle/admin/[inst]/arch/arch_1_7000.arc not fount or out of sync with catalog

We have deleted lots of Archived log files because the amount of disk space util. So,
What can we do to resyncronize recovery catalog?
Witch metod shall we use for Archived Log files manteniance?

Thanks in advance.

It looks as if the RMAN "change ... validate" command will fix your problem. Please refer to chapter 8 of the Backup and Recovery Guide. I think the syntax you need is

change archivelog all validate;

This command is supposed to reconcile the archive log files that Oracle thinks should be available with what's actually in the archive log directory. The documentation suggests using it in your situation - after manually deleting lots of old archive log files.

In the future I think you can avoid this problem by using the "change ... delete" syntax to get rid of unneeded archive logs. That does the actual file deletion and also informs Oracle that the file is no longer available. As a result RMAN will not be expecting to find an archive log that's not there.
