We're taking a couple of Windows servers off-line and are trying to make archive backups of the systems. For some reason, the archive is taking a LOT longer than expected. A typical Full backup of these systems used to complete in 4-5 hours. Right now, one of our archive runs has been going on for ~24 hours right now and it is onnly 3/4 of the way done. It appears to have ~30GB of it's 40GB backed up.. Any idea why this would be happening? We are backing up to the archive pool, and not the PC archive pool if that makes any difference..

Thanks in advance,

Troy

What type of devices are you backing up to?
What speed are they currently showing?
How many savestreams are going to the device at once and what is the parallelism set to for the server/clients.

Or, more easily supplied, what has been changed?

Devices are DLT7000s. 2 drives in the Jukebox.
On the archives, when the display that they are writing, it's between 200-300K/s.
4 savestreams per device, parallelism of 8.

Nothing has changed. Full backups still take the amount of time they always have. We just haven't run an archive in a while and the archive is what drags on..

Sorry, do you mean incremental/differential backups when you say archives?

We are using the 'archive' option available for Legato. Not a typical full/incremental backup.

Ah, not something we use, so can't help you there.
