I also posted this in Microsoft Office forum but got no response. Should I have posted it here instead?

I use outlook 2003 SP2.

I want to archive everything in a co-workers inbox and send it to her Boss.

I added co-workers's mailbox to my outlook folders.
(mailbox has unread email from today thru 2006)

I created a new personal folder named cwArchive.pst

I clicked on co-workers's mailbox then did the following:

File > archive > choose Inbox as source, > archive items older than todays date, choose cwArchive.pst to deposit > clicked OK.

It created a new inbox in cwArchive but archived nothing from co-workers's mailbox.

What am I missing?

Did you create a subfolder under the Personal folder and then move the messages into it? I dont think you need to create another archive manually. The Personal folder should do. But I have never tried creating a personal folder by adding another user to my mailbox, so not sure if it is possible.

How to open the Archive File (if not already open)

• From Outlook press File | Open | Outlook Data File
• Click the drop down arrow where it says Look In:
• Locate the pst file that you created.
• This will open the archive folder and place it in your folder list within Outlook.

Thanks exceeeduus75

I know I can create a .pst the normal way or as you suggested but that's not the same as archiving.

Archiving will store to an Archive file then remove from the mailbox what it just archived.

Anyway I couldn't get "Archive" to work but found that "Export" (and a bit of messing around) got the job done.

Thanks ousoonerjoe

I know how to open an Archive file or Personal file but your method is much easier than mine. (have a star)

I used to do the following:
Tools > Mail Setup tab > Data Files icon > Add icon > Choose Outlook Version > Choose a .pst file > Name the .pst > OK
