archive folders appear then disappear

First time I've seen this..

I go to create an archive folde rlike normal.. file, archive, inbox to shareddrive\username\username1.pst

when I click ok, the archive folder appears, but within 10 seconds it disappears. It does not appear in the mail properties in the control panel..

the desktop is running win2k pro, outlook 2k sr1
but so are the other 1300+ computers at this location, and this is the only one I've seen do this.
 
Please check the properties to see if the archive folder is not read only. When the folder is copied from a cd, the default setting is read only.
