Archive bit not cleared

Running ARCserveIT, and have noticed incrementals taking way to much tape. Looking into it, have found the archive bit is ON on almost all the files. The files are on servers running NT4 or Windows 2000, doesn't seem to matter which.
Have manualy turned off archive bit, but the files are still backed up that night and the archive bit is turned 'ON' the next morning when I checked.

Anybody else see this and find a cure?
