1. what backup scheme and/or job options do you use
2. how do you try to browse the SQL and Exchange agents : through the client agent view or through the Microsoft network view and how are your client agents discoverd : autodiscovery or manually added

Not enough information to comment on item 1. For iten 2 make sure the Discovery Service is running on the backup server as well as the servers were the client agents are installed.
