ARC 7 very slow backing up Snap Server??

Running ARCSERVE 7 on Novell 5.1 and backing up Snap Server 1000. Novell Vol and Sys backups all OK but Snap server takes over 20 hours for 14GB. This problem has only just started, although no changes have been made to the setup?? Used to take 1.5 hours?? Any pointers would be appreciated. Cheers

If you haven't already, check the network settings on your Snap Server. Our SS 1000 defaulted to Auto Detect, which sometimes resulted in 100Mbps half duplex. Performance dropped. Forcing it to full duplex restored performance.

Using the web browser to manage the server, add 'debug' to the http address, i.e. //<ip addr>/config/debug. In the command box type 'ethernet Fullduplex enable'. You may also want to force the speed with 'ethernet speed 100'. Then restart the snap server.

We also have the SS 1100, which even the vendor says is considerably faster then the 1000.
