I'm trying to install the April 2005 CS Compatibility Update for Indesign CS version 3.0.1. I am getting error messages
echo -n /Volumes/IDCSUpdater/IDCSUpdater/Contents/Resources/OEM_ > '/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OEM_folder_location.txt' --FAILED

The updater then reports that the update has run successfully.

I need to be able to open .inx files in CS. I found other people having this same problem but i never found a soulution.

Did you try to open an inx file aftr installation? I say that because you got a conflicting result - error + success.

If it's still botched up, you could try trashing everything involved with Indesign - the app, prefs, etc. Also trash the update. Then reinstall ID and run its Check for Updates function - Help menu/Updates. Theorectically, it should report what you need.

I am using 10.3.2 on a G4. This is the thing though ... we have 3 G4's in our department and 2 G5's all operating under OSX 10.3.2. The G5's are fine all the G4's are having this problem. Anything else that you could suggest to try first other then reinstalling?

Again, did you try opening an inx file to see if the install worked - considering the mixed result message you got? If it works, you can forget about that error message.

Also, how did you access the update? Did you use the ID update function via the Help menu/Updates or did you go to Adobe downloads and download the datandalone update? I would recommend the first method - ID update as that's what Adobe seems to recommend. On install, you should get a message to quit all CS apps before proceeding. You might try quitting photoshop, illustrator, acrobat, etc before trying to update.

You could also go with the old standby - trashing ID preferences. You never know when prefences could be corrupted and one of those prefs involves checking for updates.

Thanks for your time. I figured it out. For some reason i had to log on under root? I never had to do that before for updates but that is the solution.
