We are using Oracle apps 11.0.3 (on UNIX).The apps database has been tuned.<br>&nbsp;Forms 4.5, have been used to develop front-end forms, which have been deployed to the Oracle Forms Server. When these forms are being used in the LAN environment, the response time is typically sub-secound. <br><br>However in the WAN enviroment (with an optimised network) the response time is multi secound - just to browse through records can take up to ten secounds.<br><br>Has anyone a similar enviroment ...? <br>Do you experience a similar performance loss over a WAN ..?<br><br>Has anyone moved from forms to another technology (eg JSP) for performance reasons ...?<br><br><br><br><br>

Hi,

We are using Oracle Apps 11.5.5 and we have LAN users as well as WAN users (over the Internet). We find that the performance is satisfactory over the Internet also.
I feel instead of moving to JSP, etc you should explore higher version of apps or atleast the latest version of Jinitiator(check for compatibility), this is because the higher version of Jinitiator has a lot of Performance enhancing features like
1.) Jar files caching
2.) Message Diffing (only difference of messages is sent across the network).
3.) Three modes of operation: socket, http, https

The recommended mode of operation is http for WAN/Internet.

Hope this helps.
