Approach printing errors

I have a 2 page report that I have developed in Approach Version 9.8. The report is an inspection report and there are over 100 fields on the 1st page and a repeating panel on the second page using fields from 5 joined databases.

When I try to print or print preview Approach crashes when changing to the second page. Approach ceases to crash when I remove over half the fields from the first page or just try to print the first or second page.

I cannot pin down a certain field or text that is causing the problem as the removal of single elements does not solve the errors. I have also tried different printers and even copied the database to anothe computer and still have the problem. I have even recreated the data base and the form and the same thing happens - so I don't believe it is a corrupt file.

I would create the form into two and use a macro to print, however, I want to print to a PDF file that would be sent to our customers. The printed report could have anywhere from 1 to over 100 pages so manually joining the PDF's would be too complex. Have I hit upon some unknown limitation of Approach? Any other suggestions or is there a way to macro print different forms to a single PDF?

Thanks

I think you'll have to report this one to Lotus. If you recently purchased 9.8 then you may have some free support left.

9.8 contains modifications in the report area to improve pagination when fields/panels set to expand/reduce span more than one page. If you have access to a 9.7 system, it might be worth seeing if the apr behaves differently.

Re printer drivers. The most basic driver that seems to cause the fewest problems with Approach is the HP LaserJet Series II. You can install it from Windows. If this driver still gives the problem you can be almost sure it's an Approach problem that will affect all drivers.

Re PDFs. You don't say which driver you plan to use. I can recommend the Zeon DocuCom PDF Driver for working well with Approach. You can download a free trial copy from

Thanks for the advice. I had already tried the HPII Driver and it did not work. Older versions of Approach generated the same error. I upgraded to the new version last week in hopes that the error isolated to my older version. I've wasted too much time on this bug. I did check out the DocuCom PDF Driver and it will accomplish what I need using macros to print. Thanks!!!!
