Each time I use Approach (9.7) it changes my computer screen resolution from highest (32bit) to Low (8bit).
I am able to alter this manually but it is annoying.
It has done this before I added MS Service Pack 1 and remains unchanged with that addition.

My desktop is an AMD athlon XP1700 with 512 Mb Ram, running Windoows XP Home.

Anyone got a solution.

It doesn't normally do this. Have you tried restoring the setting after opening Approach and saving the apr at the higher resolution? Otherwise, I'm guessing you may have Windows Compatability mode selected. This could be set for approach.exe and/or shortcuts depending on how the apr is opened.

Right click the file(s), select properties and select the Compability tab to make changes. If compatibility has been set to resolve another issue you may have to put up with it.

Yes, I've tried resetting the screen resolution and then saving it at the higher resolution but to no effect. I dare say I can live with this minor irritation, but I would prefer it not to be there.

In Approach Properties the compatability mode is set for Windows 98/Windows ME. But it makes no difference which setting I use. The screen goes Blank or Black momentarily both when I open and close Approach.

Try turning compatibility mode off altogether for Approach and any shortcuts. I don't use it on my W2000/XP systems and don't have any problems. 9.7 is certified for XP so shouldn't need compatability mode to run correctly.

Paul,

I had tried that as well, but no joy.
If after opening Approach, I change the screen resolution back to 32bit, the resolution is fine, AND it doesn't go black or blank when I close the programme.
