Using Windows '98, Approach 97 is as slow as molasses. If I click on an object or on a menu option, I have to wait maybe 30 seconds or more before the screen refreshes. It reminds me of when I used to program on an XT using Foxpro. Where do I begin to look for a solution?

Approach 97 came out before W98, and Lotus immediately discovered that changes in the way Windows uses the registry caused this problem to appear. The solution is to upgrade to the SmartSuite 9.5 or 9.6 versions, or the standalone Approach 9.5.

I am a doctor interested in hospital dsign. I work in Autocad 2000 and Approach 97. Could someone tell me step by step how I can link my Autocad files to Approach 97 databse in a dynamic mode.

Will be greatful if a site explaining this is passed on to me or where I could pick up a download

The question of linking files (usually pictures of people or products) to records in an Approach database comes up very often on XpertSS.com. One of the most effective ways to do this is to keep the pictures in separate files and use LotusScript to display them on a form view on demand. All you need in your database records is the file name of the picture.

We have a free download on XpertSS.com that you can look at and even copy the scripts to your application. Just take the "Free Downloads" link on our site and search for new files in the Lotus Approach section.
