Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on applying the Smart Updates remotely? If so what do you recommend. I personally feel that they should be applied locally. Thanks
Since the updates keep getting larger and larger, it keeps getting harder to apply them remotely. The exception is if you can remote control a PC that is local to the site where the system is. As a rule, I like to be in front of the system so I can see what it's doing during the reboot phase. The reboots seem to take a lot longer when you're not in front of the box to watch the lights flash.
I agree. The only issue with remote desktop is that you still have to get the patch on the local network and having the customer giving you access to one of their machines. As of right now we have about 8 BCM we support with at least 3 more in the very near future. Some of these sites are up to 90 miles away.
