Applying patches to VMware servers ????

Well or 3 new VMware ESX3.02 hosts & SAN are up & running. Our 15 existing servers have been converted & we are very happy with it all. The performance of the virtual machines is all that was promised & a bit more that I expected. The contractor who set it all up has applied all the necessary patches to the VMware hosts but from now on it's our job.
Does anybody out ther have a neat EASY way of doing this. The method they used seemed a bit complicated. Maybe ther is some really great utility that some one knows of. Would like to hear all ideas.

for 3.02 I have not heard of anything.

for 3.5, there is an update feature, but with no updates for 3.5 last I looked at this function, I was unable to see it in action.
