I have read through the posts and it seems that the relevant posts apply to CS2. I am trying to add auto page numbering, starting from page 7 of my document, to facing pages. I have a left and right master page where I have added text boxes for the page numbers to display; however, right-clicking in the master's text box doesn't bring up a menu for selecting the insert spec character. I have tried so many different approaches, but none give the desired page numbers! I would appreciate any assistance -- I am new to InDesign CS3.

No problem:

Click on your text box on your master page with the text tool so the text icon is active in the text box.

Type>Insert Special Characters>Markers and Current page number.

Do the same for the page number for the opposite side

Then in Layout>Numbering and Options

Change the start page to 7.

That should do it.
