Hi there,

I have a question on how I can best perform this within illustrator...

I have a background image, and a foreground image.

I would like to apply a filter of a transparent gradient over the foreground image so it starts off 100% opaque, and then begins to fade out until the bottom of the foreground image is no longer visible and only the background is seen.

If anyone can help steer me in the right direction, that would be wonderful!

...do also note that transparency flatness settings are important if exporting to a page layout application i.e. quark...

...its good practice to have this done in your 'document setup' to the highest setting, this way illustrator will preserve as much vector as possible on output. This can always be set in the 'save as eps' dialogue if needed...

...also good practice to have your 'document raster effects' set to high if output to highend devices, this is in:

effects > document raster effects setup
