apply archieve logs to clone database

What do I need to setup to achieve a clone database which will apply archieve logs.
I have 2 SUN servers adn 2 oracle 8i databses. At present I copy a cold dump from 1 database to another. We need it more up-to-date so I need to apply archive logs as they are created or even better apply rodo logs as they switch.
How do I do this and what params do i need to setup etc.
