Hi

Can anybody tell me how the MD110 and Application Link communicate to check that the connection is still up?

I assume there must be some sort of handshaking but which one instigates the handshake? Does the Applink poll the MD110 or is it the other way round and what happens if there is no response.

The reason that I ask is that I have just simulated an applink failure (pulled the power lead out of the back of the server) and it took aproximately 30-40 seconds for the MD110 to drop the monitors and the CDINI to come into operation.

Is it possible to reduce the time it takes for the server failure to be detected?

Thanks

Pete

It's a kind of heartbeat, I guesss this is the time it take for the IP-stack to wait for a ack on the request sent before it consider it lost....so it would be hard to change.
