Problem seeing mapped network directory from client machines when using prosystem FX application through Citrix. Client does not see the Citrix server's mapped network drive and therefore cannot access the files. I need to find a way to give certain employees access to the server's mapped drive. I cannot use the client's mapped drive since a few of the clients are not on a VPN and therefore do not have this drive mapped on their machine. Any ideas would be helpful.

When the users log in do you map them to that drive? I am not sure what you are saying here. In the usrlogon.cmd have you set this mapping to the network drive?

I have not set up mapped drives through a logon script for any users. This is the first such application I have needed to do this on simply because the application only allows me to browse drives, not the Network Neighborhood. I do not have this problem with any of my other apps where files are located on shares because of the ability to browse the NN.

I think I see what you mean. The app. is looking for a drive letter, like F:, right?

Out of curiosity, you don't have drive mappings? And you have Network Neighborhood enabled on the Citrix Desktop? It just seems unusual because ours is exactly the opposite. We specifically map drives and disable NN to keep them from browsing. Of course our FoxPro apps were written with drive mappings in them, so maybe that is the bigger influence. And our network is Novell, which has drive mappings not the //server/share settings like NT.

Actually, the app opens without a problem going to the network share. The problem comes into play when the user needs to open a file. The file location screen does not show the mapped drive so they are unable to open any files.

Most apps, as I've had experience with, will actually function better using a mapped location as opposed to a UNC path. I'd highly recommend going the way that JON has suggested, running a login script, mapping the necessary drives, and removing Network Neighborhood access.

Same thing here JON, FoxPro does not like UNCs most fo the time.

Unfortunatly Brandon, without a programming change, there's not much you can do to change how an app will work or not work across UNCs.
