Application.ScreenUpdating = False not working

Hi, I always used this method to hide a running macro and make it execute faster but it seems not to work anymore.

I'm creating an application that i backup at least once a week. When I use a macro in the latest version screenupdating doesn't work but when I open a backup of the same file Screenupdating works fine.

Is there anything that could influence the functionning of this method???


I even tried to copy the old code inside my latest version and it still doesn't work.

Any Ideas?

what kinda stuff are you doing in the macro - there are some things that can cause a small flicker but there is nothing that would stop it working except if you have
application.screenupdating = true anywhere in the code...

hmm

like I said I had a backup of the file. ScreenUpdating = false worked fine on this backup. I completely copied the code from this workbook the the latest one and it still doesn't work. I don't think its inside the code.

Any other ideas?

This has happened to me when I have multiple places where it turn ScreenUpdating on. I think its off, but my code turned it on in an unexpected place.

Is your code possibly detecting the excel version and executing a different piece of code that might turn on ScreenUpdateing?

It was a shot in the dark. The real question is would some circumstance cause your code to take different branches. Mebe you ought to post your code.
