Application reload without restart tomcat

Hi,

I need to install an update (new war file) in tomcat. The problem is there are many application and there are always users logged in.
Can I force tomcat to reload an application without restarting tomcat?
Or, in apache I have a solution with graceful restart. Is there a coresponding action in tomcat?

There are two ways I am familiar with ::
1) Use Tomcat's built-in manager app - see link

2) Use Ant (see the Ant site for details of how to do it)

Both these methods assumes you are using Tomcat 4 or above ... I don;t believe it is possible with 3.
