Hello,

I am using VB6 with Access2000 and use the packaging wizard in VB6. I have had my program install on many computers using both Windows 95 and 98 and I have now come across a unique problem.

When the user clicks setup.exe on his Windows 95 terminal, after some file transfer, a message comes up "Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you want setup to update these files now" (OK is then clicked)

Next message: "You will need to restart windows before you can run setup again" (Click OK again)

The user then has to manually restart the computer (it has also been shut down then re-started) after which setup.exe is again double clicked and the above message returns again, this has happened over and over (around 6 times now). It does not appear that the system files are in fact updating.

These messages have come up before on other terminals and everything is OK after the re-start, the re-start is also always automatic when you click OK the second time (above). Can somebody please let me know why I am getting the messages above to repeat, why aren’t the files updating?? (if that is in fact the problem).

Thank You

Thank you for your reply. If the files are in fact write protected, apart from dealling with them one by one, is there a way I can remove this write protection with some type of command.

Thanks
