Application Hangs on Install

Was wondering if someone could offer any pointers on the below.

Trying to install a 3rd party application and it hangs at the end of the install with " updating system congifuration",

The server is Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP1
Im logged on as Admin and the server is being put into install mode and execute mode.

Its a new machine so there is little on there, no hotfixs or any apps that i may cause issues.

Has anyone experienced any problems before like the above ??
