Hi all,

I am trying to import a file using (wdDialogInsertFile) but not change any of the current heading numbers. Like maybe RTF with formatting and not styles.

I know that I can use (wdDialogInsertObject) but this only brings in the first page but I sometimes have multiple pages.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
FM

Hi Frontman,

If the headings in the source document are formatted in the same heading stylename as you're using in the target document, then Word's going to renumber them for you, unless perhaps you tell Word to re-start the numbering. Restarting the numbering, though, means any later headings in your target document will pick up their numbering from the imported text too, so you'd need to restart the numbering for them as well.

You can avoid this pain by renaming the heading styles in the source document to something not used in the target document - but that may have undesirable implications for the source document.

Cheers
