Application design help and advise

Is there any book or publication that you guys can point me to that will help in designing apps. Like when to use certain controls...and samples of certain screen designs to solve typical problems.....

Hi

All the programming books show you basic code snippets on its usage. I am looking more at solving issues or problems. UI ideas that can be used to solve typical business issues. Screen designs etc...

what would you classify as a "typical business issue"? I work in a courthouse, I'm sure that my typical business issues don't have anything in common with the typical buisness issues to be resolved in a manufacturing plant, or a car dealership or a jeweler.

As a professional in IT, it's YOUR business to solve the issues and problems. Then you can use different tools to implement a computer solution to the issue you have determined needs to be changed or problem that needs to be fixed.

I don't think your going to find any material like
'Common business problems and how to solve them'
or
'Screens and processing for common business issues'.
