Application Close and Minimize buttons gone?!?! 1

In Office97, I have had the "what I call top X" and the restore and minimize buttons to disappear. The only visible X will close the worksheets only. You must then go to File and Exit to close the application.

Has anyone seen this before? I can't find an option anywhere to restore these buttons.

If you can see the blue bar at the top of Excel's application window, just double-click it. That should put it back into place. Let me know if that does NOT work.

That Blue bar is not there. The menu bar is the top, how did I lose it?

Don't worry.

You say Office--which program? all of them? If all of them, I don't know how this could occur, but you'll need to do this for each program if it's all of them:

You can (this is tough tho sometimes, figuring out what's at fault):

Hit the escape key. Or hit Alt-V-U (the V and U being on your keyboard too). You could be in full-screen mode, and either of these should take care of it.

Open the program. Hit alt-spacebar and then the letter X on your keyboard. You could just have the screen in a bad size.

or

Right-click the shortcut you use to open the program, hit properties. Underneath target, you'll see "Run:". Choose "maximized". Hit Ok.

Let me know if they don't work, and also the programs you're using.
