I have some files on my mac in the above format. I need to view these files on a PC with MS Word.
I know about VINC, but this is purchase software. I only need to change one set of files ever, so the purchase is not justified.
Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this task?

Thanks

Depending on how big your files are you can save them to a PC formatted floppy or zip disk from Appleworks. Use Save As and select the desired format you wish to save them as. I'm not on my Mac as I write this so I'm not sure what formats are available, but I'm sure there is an MSWord compatible format there. If I remember correctly, AW 6 came with Maclink Plus conversion software built in.

Hope this helps.

Checked this and it only says Appleworks, Clarisworks, and html and text.
I can't find the Maclink Plus part of the software, have looked in all the top menus!

What version of Mac OS and Appleworks are you running? Do you have the latest updates for Appleworks? If all else fails you can save the documents as text and then you will need to reformat (add returns, margins, tabs, etc.) when you open in MS Word.

Also, what version of MSWord are you using? Check to see if it will open/save as versions of Appleworks/Clarisworks.

Hope this helps.

The MSWord import filter for Appleworks/Clarisworks may have been an optional component. You may need to insert your Word install CD to install the import filter.
