appletalk crashes windows nt server

In our network, I have two apple mac os 9.2 that crashes our fs1 server when uploading files. The Macs were originaly set to appletalk. I switched from appletalk to tcpip and it crashed the sever with tcpip. Any suggestions. I am not that familiar with macs.
