Hi there,

I can't seem to view any java on websites. All the correct settings are enabled under IE6 SP1. I am however sitting behind ISA servers, a firewall and an http virus scanner (which I'm sure is the culprit!)

I've installed the java plugin 1.3.1_02 and checked the console on one of the sites. The output was:

java.io.IOException: Connection failure with 407
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0 >= 0
at java.util.Vector.elementAt(Unknown Source)
at JAVACharter.StyleManage.StyleCache.a(Unknown Source)
at JAVACharter.Charter.init(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

My knowledge of java is pretty much zero! Could someone please tell me if there is anything blatantly wrong here?

Thanks for your help.

The error you posted is from a Java Applet running in a page on a public web site? If so post the URL so we can run it ourselves.

The applet might try to communicate with the Internet (deaf. security allows the applet only to communucate with the site it came from).
If this needs to go through a Microsoft Proxy that needs authentication this would not work since SUN does not support the MS authentications (they are not an open standard).
Microsoft is not allowed to provide a java virtual machine as from somedate in 2004 so then applets behind a windows proxy would be quite useless (if the applets needs to communicate to the server).
Good news is that the authentication is now supported by SUN since 1.4.2 (at the moment only beta release).
I was looking for a way to display the dialog that askes for your user info (user name and pwd) but get a 407 directly.
The only setback is that it keeps asking you for the login info, allthough it might be possible to save this info somewhere when the user changes his/her password you have to adjust the saved settings as wel.
