We are having appleshare hardware come and go in chooser for 9.2 clients too.
If you downgrade to 9.1 it cures the problem and the 9.2 latest updater doesn't cure the problem - I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this problem. Thought I was going mad...
Put a G4 quicksilver in with 1GB RAM, every bit of software possible, a firewire scanner and so on. He can't see the server!
Looks like we may have found the answer - Appletalk devices come and go in Chooser but are ok in Network browser. This happens under 9.2.1 when installed from the 3 or 4 CDs (depends on the build) initially.
Ditch that installation and install from the PROPER 9.2 OS installer single CD. Problem goes away immediately.
This issue was stopping WAM Net working, so we had to solve it!!!
i encount the same problem at my work with 6 new quicksilver that use to appear and disappear on appleshare selector, on OS 9.2, i was about to fix it by putting a big PC server on tcpip protocol (sorry) because i was thinking it was an appletalk management problem (35 G3-G4, 10 printers....)or a problem with encapsuled tcip/appleshare software or driver on the new quicksilver (because of osX)....
