Our network is comprised of both PC and Apple clients (25 users (Small Business Server). Last week, our Apple clients could not receive e-mail either locally or via the Internet. They can send, but not receive. It seems to involve the Information Store. The CPU is suddenly being used at 100%, and there is a "store.exe" program that kicks in when the email breaks down. When I reboot the server, the Apple clients can then view mail already sent to them during the breakdown, but cannot receive any new mail. We use Microsoft Exchange for our e-mail system.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks. Dave Wilson

store.exe seems to keep copies of Mac data for Exchange. How do the Macs access the Exchange server?
I recommend Outlook Express or Outlook accessing via TCPIP (needs OS 8.5 or above) with the TCPIP unset for load when required. Make sure you are not using it in offline mode. Presumably they are going direct rather than going via a Mac mail server...
More info please!

OK - We are using Outlook Express. Three of the computers are OS 8.1 and three others are 8.5 or higher. We are not using a Mac mail server. We tried to convert to Outlook when the problem arose, but received network errors, so we went back to Outlook Express. Anything else you need to know?
I really appreciate this!
Two things to thine about. Mac Servicses for NT is running and perhaps if you continue to have problems use outlook web access and access the email through a mac browser.

You can use Appletalk for the Macs or TCPIP. Make sure these protocols and services are running correctly on the NT server.
In the Outlook Express setup, don't use IMAP, and set up both SMTP and POP servers as the NT server name that your exchange sits on. Make sure the appletalk name of the server is the same as the NT name. Check the Mac users on a PC, access their mailbox and see what happens. Then check the opposite way around. I'd also check your licensing in case that is your problem. 25 user licence is not a lot. If you are getting errors in the licence log, stop the licence service for a while until you sort the problem out. I assume you have checked out the event log on the NT server to see if there are any related problems listed...
If you are running Ex5.5 and have IIS 4 loaded I agree with SRG that Outlook Web Access may be easier to implement, although we had some problems with that too...
