Appending Database tables 1

I still need additional help.&nbsp;&nbsp;I have a large <br>quantity of databases with four tables in Access that have to be appending into one Access database containing four tables.&nbsp;&nbsp;I don't know much about programming in VBA.&nbsp;&nbsp;I know how to use append queries, but I need to know a quicker way to achieve my goal.&nbsp;&nbsp;Can I do this somehow using a macro?&nbsp;&nbsp;I tried creating one to output to a txt file in MsDos, but it is really messy.&nbsp;&nbsp;Is there a more useful method?&nbsp;&nbsp;Thanks,<br><br>KrazyKT

dear krazykt,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you have a choice of&nbsp;&nbsp;quick and inaccurate or slow and accurate <br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;using the latter route, export as ascii delimited, the information for your tables, then import the data into your new database. this actually will not take that much time - honest! [i'm assuming the table layouts & field descriptions are identical and there are no autonumbered fields]<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;append queries using the grid take more time (i think) because you have to indicate what each field maps to for each table.<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;if these are repetitive appends, write a little macro that will export each table in a given database to a text file, then import those text files into the main database. a button can be placed somewhere that will activate the macro.

Okay, you said you can write an append query. Yes, you can put this in a macro. Just create a new macro. Look for &quot;Open query&quot;, put your query name in the &quot;query name&quot; field. It even has a drop down list box to help you find your queries. You can have multiple queries run, one after each other.<br><br>hth<br><br>

Is there a way to add extra buttons on a switchboard and let them appear as blanks, and can you exit the switchboard and return to windows.
